fontina releases
Current
The current release is fontina 0.2.0, 2026-09-14. Before 1.0, command output, schemas and check identifiers may still change, and every such change is called out in the changelog. From 1.0, they are stable.
Every release
| Version | Tagged | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| 0.2.0 | See the release notes. | |
| 0.1.1 | Static GNU/Linux binaries that run on every distribution. Two denial-of-service defects in the importer, found by fuzzing. The index no longer loses tags and collections when a parse fails, activation can no longer delete a font it did not install, and concurrent fontina processes can share one index. | |
| 0.1.0 | First release. Renamed from unifont and relicensed under GPL-3.0-or-later in the same release. Its GNU/Linux binaries were built against a newer glibc than any stable distribution ships and will not start on one; take 0.1.1 or later instead. |
What a release contains
Every release on the releases page carries, per platform, one archive with the binary, shell completions for bash, zsh, fish and PowerShell, and the man pages; a SHA-256 checksum for each archive; a SLSA build provenance attestation; .deb and .rpm packages for GNU/Linux with their own checksums; and an SPDX software bill of materials. See Download for how to verify them.
The GNU/Linux binaries are statically linked against musl, so one file runs on every distribution and there is no minimum glibc version to check.
Policy
Only the latest release and the main branch receive fixes. Versions follow semantic versioning. Releases are cut by release-please from the commit history: it keeps a release pull request open with the changelog and the version bump, and merging it tags the release and starts the build. Nothing is released by hand.
Security fixes are announced in the release notes and, for anything serious, on the news page.
