Roadmap
A plain-text format for plans that people and coding agents read, edit and check in the same file.
v0.1 — Check a plan from the terminal
Section titled “v0.1 — Check a plan from the terminal”·········· 0% · 0 of 3 done · due 2026-11-20
A stranger installs sprig, writes a plan across one or more .sprig files, and gets two answers: sprig next says what can be done right now, and sprig check reports broken links, loops and unknown anchors with exit codes CI can use.

A public website that explains Sprig in ten seconds and lets a visitor edit a real plan in thirty, and a Show HN post that points at it. The site’s plan, including the arguments behind its shape, is in design/site-plan.html.

v0.2 — Write plans in your editor
Section titled “v0.2 — Write plans in your editor”·········· 0% · 0 of 3 done · due 2027-01-29
VS Code highlights .sprig files, completes people, anchors and file links, shows sprig check diagnostics as you type, and ticks items with a code action. sprig fmt normalises a file without touching anything it doesn’t mean to. In the terminal, sprig tree, status and why show a plan’s shape and what holds it up, and every command completes in the shell.

v0.3 — Agents work the plan
Section titled “v0.3 — Agents work the plan”·········· 0% · 0 of 5 done · due 2027-04-02
sprig mcp lets a coding agent read a repository’s PLAN.sprig, find ready work, tick, add and answer items, where every change is an ordinary file edit a person can review. Plans export to calendars and JSON, and existing checklists import. From the shell, mark, add, answer, find, agenda and graph cover the everyday writes and questions, through the same edit API the agents use.

sprig tui: the tree, what’s next and the agenda for a folder of plans on one terminal screen, with vim keys, writes that go through the same one-line edits as the verbs, and live reload when a file changes underneath it. Plan: design/cli-plan.html.

A frozen spec under CC0, a conformance suite that covers every rule, and packaged tools a stranger installs in one command on macOS, Linux and Windows. No new surface: this milestone makes promises about what already exists.

Good ideas that are not on the path to 1.0: the phone app, bindings for other languages, the web viewer, tracker sync and stewardship work that needs adoption first. Items land here instead of being argued about.
